Buff Tees

March 9th, 2010 by Phil

As Mark from BuffTees correctly pointed out in a comment on our site, we’re back for Round 2 with BuffTees.  From the site that brought you such classics as “Player Hater’s Ball,” Buff Tees has jumped on some more pop culture fads and made shirts about them.  The great thing about BuffTees is that all shirts are available in several different styles and dozens of colors.  Thankfully for us they sent a couple over to check out and see what we think.  BuffTees has a discount on orders of 2 or more through March 12 in celebration of St.Patty’s day!

What was Maryland known for before 2005?  No matter, after 2005 they’ve been known for “Crabcakes and Football“.  “Wedding Crashers” launched this theme into orbit and now the great state of Maryland is reaping the benefits.  The PR benefits I guess, its not like they’re profiting from the shirts!  The design itself is pretty basic, but the shadows in the background add a lot of noise and depth to this shirt.  Has a nice relaxed game day feel, and perfect colors if you’re a University of Maryland fan.

Another pop culture classic, you have to go back to the 90′s for this one.  From the famous scene where the two young lovers are perched on the bow of the Titanic, BuffTees has created “Just The Tip.”  Interweaving sexual vulgarity with a tragic disaster usually results in some harsh looks from people so expect some on the streets while wearing this one, but I think its worth it in the long run.

Now we’d like to present BuffTees latest theme ripped from the big screen: “Hot Tub Time Machine“.  While the jury is still out on whether this is going to go down as a classic like the last two movies these shirts have featured or just another dumb comedy movie, this is probably the shirt I’ll wear the most.  You really have to see the movie to get it, so that’s nice for starters, and its actually a cool design.  Did they use this design for the Lake Placid Olympics?

Brand New Intention

March 7th, 2010 by Phil

Brand New Intention is an international company who’s self-proclaimed anti-spectator, pro-instigator gear looks to rock the scene wherever its seen and in whatever environment it shows up at.  The designs at Brand New Intention themselves are well designed and on the verge of edgy.  I would wear this stuff out to a club or concert, or as everyday wear.  There’s a lot of stuff going on in the designs, but its not skulls and snakes and dumb stuff like that, its well put together with a purpose.  My favorite is “On Tilt” which is on the delicate wall between sweet and downright scary.  The design is fine until you get close, then it get creepy with the single tear in the King’s eye to top it off.

Nerdy Shirts

March 4th, 2010 by Phil

Since the last shirt we posed about from Nerdy Shirts got so much attention (the cat in the shark’s mouth…) we’ll take a look at a few more.  One of my favorites that developed out of the hit raunchy comedy the Hangover is the Baby Tee.  Freakin’ hilarious, and NerdyShirts takes the stance that its nice to have your own Hangover baby without the trip to Vegas.  I think its nice to have any baby that’s on a shirt and not actually a baby that’s yours!

This next shirt is as much at home as any shirt ever found on Nerdy Shirts.  “Its a Trap” is a tribute to that slimy, UGLY, gold fish looking dude from Star Wars.  The Admiral really knows when to point out the obvious.  Not your classic Star Wars shirt, nice to see something original.
