Who do you not want to run into on a cold, lonely night? Hailing from the depths of the BustedTees warehouses, the ultimate high-seas super villain: Captain Octopus. A deadly mix between the slimy villain from Pirates of the Caribbean and the kraken from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Captain Octopus does not play around. You can even imagine an attitude that mirrors that of Captain Hook. Dripping with blood or ink, I don’t know what the policy on ink and octopi is these days, Captain Octopus is surely a nightmare wielding those knives and hook.

The product of two Nantuckett dwelling brothers, Castaway Clothing is clean cut, great looking coastal wear. Castaway Clothing products have the same kind of look as companies like Vineyard Vines with the seersucker and the patterened shorts, but still maintain that small-family based company, original feel. Castaway Clothing’s Men’s polos is where its at: great feeling pique, awomsome construction and fit (slightly longer body, apparently for casting), and seersucker trim just so everyone knows you’re not messing around. We would put them right up there with Brooks Brothers in terms of look and feel. Obviously any clothing with this level of quality comes with an elevated price tag but trust us, its worth it. Polos available in 9 colors.

Price: $68.00

Under every great shirt there are some bottoms, and at Castaway Clothing those bottoms are some killer shorts. While the lure of pants is strong and readily available at Castaway, with this kind of dress I’m going to have to go with shorts, and boy does Castaway Clothing come through! Two options: ultra light weight Donis shorts & ultra flashy Cisco shorts. You can’t go wrong with either of these styles: Donis if you want to beat the heat, and Cisco if you want a sweet martini glass or marlin pattern on the shorts. Comfort, style and quality included in every pair.

Just like all good fairy tales we’re going to start out with “Once Upon a Time.” This “Once Upon a Time” is not like the watered down modern G-rated interpretations of fairy tales, but much like the original Grimm Brothers intended and TenBills can deliver. Craziness and stuff you wouldn’t expect. Like some owls surrounded by crazy neon circles and macaroni looking things. And if anyone can figure out what “Et wor eemol…” means please let me know. Anyways, a cool looking design with tons to look at.

Price: $10.00

Going along with the craziness theme of today’s edition of TenBills Tuesday, we bring you “Gemini.” What is going on in this design? Well, I do know that Gemini is probably a reference to the Gemini twins, and there are several spots where identical or nearly identical objects can be spotted. Also if you take a step back and cross your eyes a little bit and look a little off to the side, like you’re looking at one of those blurry puzzles on a cereal box, you can see two peoples faces in the paint. One on top of the other, with the bottom one being smaller. Crazy with a hint of creepy but I really like the design (a nice reach for TenBills, very original), and the fact that I can recognize it!

Interested in pop culture? So is Frank and Jan, an upstate New York based t-shirt and screen printing business who’s influences include: “pop culture icons, fame, street culture, gangster rap, punk rock, religious iconography, reggae, death metal, and infamous front page headlines.” Needless to say, quite a spread.
“Action Packed” is one of Frand and Jan’s busier shirts, with a lot of action going on. From what I can tell its made up of a bunch of gun-wielding tv gangsters from the 70′s and 80′s. I think I see Robert Duval from The Godfather in there. I’m not a big disco-gangster movie buff so I’m not too familiar with the characters but I recognize some faces. Cool vintage aspect in this shirt with a modern feel.

The other shirt on this site that I just had to feature is “Jobless.” Here’s where the front page headlines hit the material. Obviously a jab at our economy’s new found fascination with base jumping into the ground. Large bold text usually gets the message across.

Friday, FINALLY. While Friday feels good to me I’m sure there are millions of digruntled students ready to return to class either on Monday, or on a Monday soon. BustedTees has just what you need to get out of that funk: a sale!! All t-shirts are 15% off, all hoodies are 15% off, and all kids shirts are 25% off.
Like to be controversial at school? Here’s how: wear this shirt. Everybody tenses up when religion is brought up in school, and there is no better way to bring it up than by wearing “Jesus Hates the Yankees.“ While I don’t necessarily agree with the thinking behind this doctrine, its pretty funny. Could be a hit up in the New England area, as well as everywhere else where the Yanks are launching bombs and taking names.

Price: $16.95

We here at T-Shirt Review prefer to be well rounded and consider both sides of the coin so on the opposite side of the awkward-in-public-places spectrum we have the subject of evolution. No, we’re not featuring a shirt with 8 different sparrow beaks, we’re talking about geological evolution. Is that a real thing or did I just make it up? Anyways, Pangea. What would the world be like if there was one big super-continent and every nation was at everyone’s backdoor? Let’s find out, join the cause: “Reunite Pangea“!!

Welcome to a special issue of TenBills Tuesday. While for the past few weeks we haven’t seen anything come out of TenBills, they have opened up their vault and let loose another volley of pre-order shirts. 9 new designs with 23 total shirts to choose from are now available to pre-order for the same low price of $10. Also be sure to check out the 7 day $7 sale. 7 tees, $7 for 7 days. Can’t get much better than that! Here are some standouts among the new designs from TenBills:
Budi Satria Kwan is back in “Ninjas vs. Pirates.” One of my favorite designers has struck again with another hit. Altough it can all be traced back to Atari’s 1989 “Skull & Crossbones,” Ninjas vs. Pirates has been a popular theme at parties in recent years and is gaining momentum, so here’s your chance to not have to dress like a drunken pirate or an almost-mummifed ninja.

Price: $10.00

“Gas Mask” is another standout new design from TenBills, but on a far more serious note than pirates. Obviously meant to show human greed and the effect it has on our planet or something along those lines, “Gas Mask” asks you to pause and think. Well I’ve thought, and even though I wouldn’t wear this shirt for the “cause,” gas masks are cool so I’d wear it for that. For each his own I guess…. Also available in a red on gray that looks super Soviet.

Science, the final frontier. When you break down all the complexities, what does it all boil down to in science? Atoms. BustedTees gives us the ode to the atom with this classic Simpson-esqe diagram. From my semester as a pre-med major I can take a stab and guess that what we’re looking at here is Lithium with its three electrons. I could be completely wrong, but if I’m right props to me.

Today we’re taking you back, way back. The year: 1978, the game: Space Invaders. One of the most popular (and only) games of its time Space Invaders was such a hit it caused a shortage of 100-yen pieces in Japan. Bytelove has resurrected this relic and brought it back for round two. Right now Bytelove is featuring “Space Invaders” and “Space Invaders Attack”, amonst other retro gaming shirts, to bring you back to the 2-D days. The shirts not only have a great design, but they look and fit comfortable as well. While the tag looks pretty big and bulky and scratchy, its actually quite soft and inconsequential. Bytelove not only has some pretty cool t-shirts, it features all kinds of Geek and Gamer gear. Note that this is a European company based in Sweden so all of the prices are based on the Euro.

In response to some a comment left on the first ARKA post I’d like to feature one more shirt that they’re featuring right now. There are several shirts at ARKA that are of a lighter design than the ones printed on black and we didn’t mean to give the impression that it was a darker site at all. “Bad Trip” is another side to ARKA clothing, the bright side we’ll say. I’m a huge fan of all the colors and the way the mushrooms seem to be dripping down the front. One thing I don’t get is why its a bad trip. Everything is so bright and crazy… Also, this isn’t one of their distressed tees but it would seem to be more fitting if it was.

Today we’re going to take a look at ARKA Clothing, a streetwear shirt designer that prides themselves on paying attention to every detail. ARKA Clothing features a wide array of designs ranging from guns and birds to a trippy yellow mushroom shirt. Its evident that ARKA gets their designs from a bunch of different sources. The shirts themselves are quality and the distressed shirts are REALLY distressed (small tears and rips on the collar, both sleeves, and bottom of the tee). Non-toxic print is another feature that they stress meaning the print is non-formaldehyde (a really good thing right? Sounds like something I don’t want on my shirts.) Putting these shirts on feels like putting on a comfy shirt you’ve had for years. Comfort comes with a price however, as almost all their shirts come in at $39.99. Also be sure to keep up with ARKA on facebook (doesn’t everyone have one now?) at facebook.com/ARKAclothing.
“Reign” is a double entendre shirt, my favorite kind. Very clever design with the bombs as raindrops.

“Doves in the Chamber” is another clever design that combines war with peace. This kind of concept has been done before, but ARKA makes it look good again. This is one of the distressed tees as you can kind of make out the distressed edges from the picture.

At the beginning of every August a week sneaks up on me that I’m never expecting: the dreaded Shark Week. If you watch TV you can’t get away from those demonic, soul-less, machine-like creatures. So in tribute to the beast which I am most terrified of we bring you “Feelings” from BustedTees. Maybe we should look at sharks a little differently now that one is presented to us having feelings, just like anyone else. Or we can continue to look at them as vicious mauling beasts. I prefer the latter. But this tee is pretty cool as it shows a Great White shark going airborne, probably fresh after devouring a whole seal or human on the way out of the water. They work fast. Did I mention “Feelings” is 15% off? For this week only!

I’d like to personally introduce you all to the newest member of the T-Shirt Review familiy: ClothMoth. Welcome!! ClothMoth is like that kid back in high school that everyone wanted around because they were so damn funny, yet kind of odd. A one of-a-kind site, ClothMoth features “clothing & kindness” in their words and “hilarity in print” in my words. Original themes and ideas make ClothMoth feel like a breath of fresh air, however paradoxical that may sound. Men’s, Women’s, Uni-sex, and baby shirts can all be found at ClothMoth. Here are a few gems from the site:
“Hurricanes are Haters” is a quality design. Simple yet effective, this shirt is a great all-purpose design that is just plain funny. Really, REALLY, bright though. I love the description of the shirt on the site, check it out for sure.

Price: $22.00

“The Mad Genius of Edward L. Van Halen” is one of my favorite designs on the site as well as a true story. A fan of Van Halen myself, I can only describe this shirt as an awesome idea put onto cloth. Makes me want to go listen to some VH…

Price: $23.00

“Monkey Business” is an odd design (oddity is a reoccuring theme here, in a good way) that reminds me of Curious George from another dimention. Or when the guy in the yellow hat decides to get with the times and start wearing black.
