Contrastshop - Contrast shirts for contrast people!

Finkle

December 31st, 2008 by Phil

First thing that came to mind when I saw this shirt from BustedTees: “Laces out!!!”  It got me to laugh a little bit so I figured it would be worth featuring.  I know, an Ace Ventura reference that isn’t obnoxious (if I hear “alrighty then…” one more time…).  It can also be seen as a small tribute to the AFC East champion Dolphins; don’t know how you got there but enjoy it while it lasts.  The one weird thing is that there is nothing on the front, but its not a big deal if you don’t care!!  Available in Mens and Womens.

December 27th, 2008 by Phil

Here’s a new shirt from one of our favorite sites: the “Snurfing Iceman” is brought to you from Linty Fresh just in time for the real winter time.  Not the cool winter time leading up to the holidays, the winter time where you can’t wait for it not to be winter time anymore.  “Snurfing Iceman” features an a creature that reminds me of a supercool updated snowbeast from SkiFree that can now chase you down faster utilizing snowballs and a snowboard.  Its a cool design and as always is printed on high quality American Apparel tees.

Price: $22.00

Linty Fresh is now featuring a Bundle Box where you pick two t-shirts and a belt and save 20% off the whole thing.  Its $50 for two t-shirts and a belt, and there is also a hoodie bundle for $70 where you can choose a hoodie, a t-shirt and a belt and save 15%.  In addition, Linty Fresh is also featuring a coupon for %15 off you entire purchase!! Strange Cargo

December 25th, 2008 by Phil

Strange Cargo is a Chicago based company that has been around for over 25 years but has been selling t-shirts for the last eight years.  The cool thing about Strange Cargo is that you can choose any one of their hundreds of designs and then choose the type of shirt you want it printed on as well as the color of the shirt.  The designs include political stuff, sports, vintage, religion, sex, and all other kinds of stuff.  Its a very diverse site with limitless possibilities.

I decided to feature the “I heart Obama” shirt so that you can get your politic on just in time for inagauration. I chose to make it in a traditional American Apparel style, with the gold shirt.  Other styles include military tees, baseball shirts, soccer shirts, ringers, and long sleeve.  Its also available in 7 other colors, so this should give you an idea of the kind of customization that is possible through Strange Cargo.

Price: $20.00

“High-Rollers Roller Skating” is a vintage design from Strange Cargo.  I’ve customized it here to be a woman’s soccer shirt in green.

Savage Kas

December 23rd, 2008 by Phil

Savage Kas is a street wear store dedicated to Indie style clothes for guys and girls. The idea is to provide urban wear from Indie companies that keep you looking individual. Not only does Savage Kas feature t-shirts they feature hoodies, polos and surf rashguards. Savage Kas’ clothing line is called After Party Apparel. The two shirts that caught our eye were “Death Before Karaoke” and “Eye to Eye.”

“Death Before Karaoke” is a great shirt for anyone who loves to show their distaste for wanna-be solo artists who hope to advance their “career” at the expense of those listening (or trying not to). Here’s a good way to bluntly tell them whats up.

Price: $18.00

“Eye to Eye” exemplifies the style that Savage Kas brings to the clothing industry. This hip urban style shirt displays two people sneaker-to-sneaker (classic Converse style) with a pretty sweet shadow effect that adds a lot to the shirt.

Mad Gringo

December 21st, 2008 by Phil

Here’s a company that knows the definition of relaxation. Mad Gringo is dedicated to taking it slow and living life with a smile.  They feature an awesome array of Hawaiian shirts, more then I’ve ever seen before in my life actually, as well as T-shirts and swimwear and a bunch of other beach apparel.  Mad Gringo has over 70 different Hawaiian shirt designs for the mens section alone so that should be an indication of how serious these guys are.  There is also a women’s section, although its not as extensive as the men’s section the designs are awesome.  Each Hawaiian shirt even comes with a little anecdote about the design to add another nice touch.  Sale prices (they’re all on sale) range from about $19 to $62. Here are a couple of their Hawaiian shirts:

Acropolis Apparel

December 17th, 2008 by Phil

Acropolis Apparel is a street inspired clothing company inspired by the street culture of Los Angeles and Southern California.  Each one of Acropolis Apparel’s designs aims to spark thought in your mind whether it’s a reference to art, history, hoops or science.  Acropolis Apparel’s goal is to create quality clothing by combining creativity with substance.

“The Swarm” is a depiction of the United States Army’s principal attack helicopter, the AH-64 Apache.  Its a pretty sweet looking shirt especially in the yellow (also available in black with red choppers and olive with black choppers) because it actually looks like a swarm of angry bees.  Also the lemon yellow really makes you stand out in a crowd, the shirt really screams “look at me!!!”  Available in mens t-shirts and hoodies.

Price: $25.99

“Birds of Paradise” is a womens shirt depicting a flying dove above the Acropolis logo.  I like the marbled shirt design.  “Birds of Paradise” is available in three colors as well: Black-Mint-White, Brown-White-Creme, and White-Pink-Grey.

Defunkd

December 16th, 2008 by Phil

As their website says, Defunkd takes vintage VERY seriously. We’re not talking faded reproductions to look the age, we’re talking actual vintage tees aged at least 15 years, some up to three decades. These aren’t “vintage style” reproductions, these are legit shirts from the era.

Each one of Defunkd’s featured products are hand selected by decorated authorities (Jim, the guy who runs the show, has authored three vintage tee-shirt guides) who look to preserve these memories of the past and pass them on to satisfy what Defunkd refers to as “vintage aficionados.”

Most of the products listed run anywhere from $100 to $1000 so these are not everyday run-of-the-mill products, these are special garments some of which are very rare.

Defunkd is a great site for dedicated of tee-shirt fanatics, or “retroholics” as Jim refers to them, but its worth anyone’s time to check out for the amazing spread of quality vintage items.

They also have a list of the Top 20 Best Places to Buy Vintage T-shirts. You can read all about that HERE. A lot of time was taken to compile this list, and it’s extremely thorough. The companies are broken down into categories and reviewed. This is a MUST read for any vintage tee lover.

INDVSL

December 12th, 2008 by Phil

Indivisual Clothing is a small independent company that focuses on some pretty abstract designs.  I think the point here is to use t-shirts as a form of canvas to display art.  While its a concept that has been tried before, Indvsl takes it to a whole new level using the entire shirt in some cases to display the artists’ visions.  “Skullsalot” is a design with a bunch of clustered, goofy-tooth grinning skulls.  They are definately some of the weirdest looking skulls I’ve ever seen as they even look kind of happy.  “Skullsalot” is available in t-shirt form, zip hoodie, and zip jogger and while the design remains the same across all three the sweatshirts have a few extra skulls here and there.  INDVSL is a cool site to check out whether you’re looking for shirts or just some pretty cool artwork.

Joust

December 9th, 2008 by Phil

For those of you looking for some legit creative shirts, Robit Studios is the place for you.  Robit gears their products toward anyone that appreciates the small businesses and creative minds, or the efforts of individuals against mass production of crappy t-shirts by careless corporations that seek out the cheapest route.  All Robit Studios shirts are printed by hand using environmentally friendly ink, and all shirts are sweat-shop free American Apparel shirts.

Joust is a new shirt that Robit is featuring.  Its a simple two-color shirt featuring a knight riding an ostrich to a joust.  Can’t really get more original (or random) then that can you?  All in all its a pretty cool shirt and like most of the rest of their products its something that can be worn for any casual occasion.

Ten Bills Holiday Update

December 8th, 2008 by Matt

It’s no secret that one of my favorite companies out there is TenBills, the company that offers shirts for only $10. Not crappy, low quality printed shirts, but high quality, original designs on great 100% cotton shirts. I wear them all the time.

Need a gift for the holidays and don’t want to spend a lot of money? TenBills would be perfect for that. Right now they have FREE SHIPPING! No minimums!

They have a new website that is easier to use, and some new shirts.

One of the new shirts is called “No 1 is safe”. It has some graphics thrown together to make a shirt that’s suitable to wear anywhere, including out at night.

Price: $10!!!

Remember that these shirts may shrink, and I always order a size up so I don’t get an uncomfortable tight fit. Something else new from TenBills is an account tab on their website. This way you can review past orders and some other features. They’re going to have new updates every Monday.

The other new shirt is called “Push My Buttons” and it’s a bit more loud. Some people love this style, so if that’s you, do your thing and pick up this shirt at an incredible price.

Yes We Spray Can

December 1st, 2008 by Phil

“Yes We Spray Can” comes courtesy of Mr.Kupa, a local New York City based company getting their designs out for enjoyment to people beyond their borders.  The combination of political slogan and spray can is very clever and is a rare original in a sea of carbon copy political tees.  “Yes We Spray Can” is printed on American Apparel Navy tees, 100% combed fine jersey cotton.  Head on over to mrkupa.com to check out this and other great designs.
