I’ll say sorry

January 17th, 2008 by Matt

Due to the recent popularity of THIS youtube video, Busted Tees has released a shirt for it. The shirt says “I’ll say sorry, but I’m not taking my glasses off”.

If you haven’t seen the video, this kid threw a huge party at his parents house in Australia and  it got so out of hand a riot insued, with cars being destroyed and even police being attacked. The kid’s parents face huge fines, and the kid doesn’t seem to care. The interview he gives with the news is hilarious.

It’s on “pre-sale” pricing at $14.99 so get it now at this low price and it will ship when it’s ready.

Guitar Hero

January 15th, 2008 by Matt

I played guitar hero for the first time the other day, well actually it was that new Rock Band game, and it just shows how little rhythm I actually have, as in none.

Busted Tees has a shirt out now that features an almost real sized guitar hero controller guitar on a shirt. If you love the game as much as some people I know, this is a must have shirt for your collection.

Artifex Shirts

January 14th, 2008 by Matt

This company has 100% organic cotton shirts throughout their site. The site was started by a couple of brothers who hope to “change the world” by using and encouraging other companies, to use organic cotton to rid the world of evil pesticides. They also do some charity work through the sale of their shirts.

“Excited about its latest endeavor with NativeEnergy, they are looking to offset 50,000lbs of CO2 emissions. Not only will Artifex Shirts provide for the carbon offsets, but they will also help fund the production of a windmill facility in South Dakota. Specifically designing our Windmill shirt for this cause, Artifex Shirts will donate $3 to Native Energy every time a customer purchases Windmill through the website.”

The windmill shirt they are talking about is this, and it comes in two colors:

They also sell Hoodies and Polos along with Men’s and Women’s style shirts. It’s nice to see a company trying to make a difference in the world, no matter how small or large. I wish them luck with their efforts.

Here is the polo, which there is only one design. It says “A|X”, which I wonder if it’s too much like the armani exchange logo and will prevent people from wearing it.

Price: $27

So, check out Artifex Shirts and save the planet, one shirt at a time.

Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

January 12th, 2008 by Matt

Here’s a site and company that confused the hell out of me. They sent me so much literature I was overwhelmed and put it aside for a rainy day when I had time to sit down and read it all. Well it didn’t rain today, but it is a Saturday, so I took a look.

Here’s the two shirts:

This apparition of a bicycle gear, stark silver on black like a star in the night and reminiscent of a style popular for death metal bands, might figure as a beacon of hope or giggle at us from the point of no return.

Price: $40

If you are a sneaker nerd, it goes perfectly with the classic Air Max ‘95 in grey and highlighter green. If your style icon is Donatella Versace, knot it up in the back and wear it with your 4” gladiator stilettos.

The company is called Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction.  This collection comes out of a collaboration with artists, an idea which springs out of a revolt for the mass-produced, factory and sweatshop made merchandise that is so prevalent in our culture today. The artists work on a freelance basis and so they give their “real” work and not just something they think can sell. You can read bios on the artists on their website and learn more about the company.

Bernos.org

January 7th, 2008 by Matt

Bernos creates high-quality, eye-catching t-shirts featuring African themes. They supply the world with standout shirts featuring African icons, inspired by their childhood memories. Being that I’m not African, I don’t understand a single shirt on the site however. They do print on American Apparel, and the designs and print look to be lasting quality.

Price: $21.95

Addis Ababa which means “New Flower” is the capital city of Ethiopia. The city sits more than 2,200 meters high and is the third highest capital city in the world. Addis Ababa Classic II…reloaded, refurbished, renovated, restored, revamaped version of the orignal Bernos Addis Ababa Classic tee is available on a Red Ringer American Apparel Shirt.

Price: $19.95

“It’s difficult to describe the effect Africa has on our soul, which is why the spirit of being African can not be described neither by couple of sentences nor by an image on painting…but we wanted to say that “Africa is our brand;”

One thing I noticed about the website is that they have many spelling errors, not sure if that was intentional, but I doubt it. The blog also has some interesting commentary that might be worth a read: http://www.bernos.org/blog/ Basically if you’re into these kind of shirts, you’re going to really enjoy this site. Right now they only have 4 designs for sale as the others are sold out, so check back to see if they come in stock or send them an email.

Material Bitch

January 5th, 2008 by Matt

Material Bitch, a Hollywood Trust Fund Goddess and gifted artist, graduated fashion design school and began making unique, stylish, and edgy designs. Specifically created to mock her and her friends blatant attention to price tags, brand names and who was wearing what, MB launched Material Bitch. It wasn’t long before Material Bitch clothing had a strong presence in the Cali & Scottsdale, AZ scene with support from some of Hollywood’s elite, who happen to run in the MB pack. As soon as she realized what she had tapped in to and the demand became more prominent, she collaborated with an old friend and Retail Royalty, Bethany. Wanting nothing to do with it besides design, blogging and drinking, you will often find MB running around with some of Pop Culture’s most notorious.

What a story. So, first thing you should realize, this site only has girls’ shirts. The shirts are really cool though. So if you’re a hot chick, I’m sure you’ll love these designs. This is the one we got sent.

Price: $29.99

Check out Material Bitch‘s website for their other designs and the hot chicks who wear them.

Mini Cassette

January 1st, 2008 by Matt

Mini Cassettewas started in 2007 by Danny Miller (co-creator of Nostromo Design) and Chip Hoppin and Patrick Cudahy (owners of the merch screen printing company). Together they have formed a t-shirt company for the fans of horror movies, sci-fi flicks, retro gaming, and everything in between. Basically giving the average fanboy a cool hip t-shirt to sport. We’ve featured Nostromo before, so that’s why a couple shirts may look familiar.

They sent in two designs:

Price: $22.00

Price: $22.00

Both t-shirts are great quality, but lack any kind of originality. I wonder if the whole vintage thing is played out (if that makes any sense).  Something cool about the company is that they have free shipping on all of their orders. They also do not charge for plus size shirts like XXXL. The shirts are 100% Hanes Cotton, which are one of my personal favorites being that I hate American Apparel shirts.

Check out Mini Cassette Tees.
