Busted Tees, who always seem to have new shirts on their site even if you just looked the day before, have now started giving you 15% off their newest shirts. A sale you say? Yes, and it’s off new clothing, which is out of the ordinary. Here’s a couple new gems:

This shirt is for bacon lovers, which is everyone who cares about their taste buds. If you’re missing out on bacon for religious reasons, that sucks because bacon is the best.

Price: $20 – 15% = $16.99!

Marker Tees

June 23rd, 2009 by Phil

Today we’re going to take you where no other t-shirt has before.  Sure there are text tees, even customizable ones.  But have you ever seen a tee that you can write on to make your message clear?  How about one that you can change the message on every time you wear it?  Marker Tees makes this possibility a reality.  Every shirt sold at Marker Tees is intended to be drawn on with the complementary washable marker that comes in the package.  What a great idea.  The shirt that stood out for us, other than the basic text bubble shirt, was the “Hello my name is ___” shirt.  Now you have a name tag that has marker on it, but the name tag is the shirt and the marker comes out!! Mind-blowing paradox.  Check it out along with all of the other cool designs.

Price: $28.90 (marker included)

Goodjoe T-Shirts

June 12th, 2009 by Phil

This week we received a few shirts from Goodjoe T-Shirts who up to now we were unfamiliar with.  Our loss apparently because here’s a t-shirt site that will do anything to put a smile on your face.  A genuine happy smile, not the kind you get when someone hits their head on something and its funny.  The whole message at Goodjoe is that they are an interactive community that promotes and inspires change through creative design.  Goodjoe invites artists to submit their designs to the site, and if chosen as a shirt design there is a chance to get a whole slew of perks: $500+royalties ($1 per shirt sold)+$50 store credit.  I wish I could draw…  Anyways, Goodjoe also puts $1 per shirt into the “Goodjoe bucket” which supports non-profit organizations nominated by visitors to the site.  Another cool feature on Goodjoe is they have each artist tell a little bit about their design and what inspired them to create it.  On to the shirts!!

Its all about optimism and inspiration at Goodjoe and the shirts are the backbone of this effort.  While not really my personal style they are perfect for their targeted audience which just so happens to include my girlfriend who absolutely fell in love with the “Joy” shirt as soon as she saw it.  “Joy” is a Trevor Watts design and is in response to all the depressing news we fight everyday: forclosures, layoffs, the downward spiral of the stock market.  No matter what language you speak, its probably on this shirt.  And who could suppress a smile when you have a giant sun staring at you with a giant grin?  Spread the joy!!

Price: $18 (remember: $1 to the designer, $1 to non-profit orgs)

Another shirt that caught our eye here at TShirtReview was the “Thirsty for Life” design courtesy of feenix.  “Thirsty for Life” was inspired by the artist’s love for nature and environmental health and stresses the importance of planting trees as a way to combat the CO2 overdose we’re putting the planet through.  This is a shirt that I would wear as the colors and design are more masculine.  It kind of has a southwest feel to it that I like with the dead tree against the sun.

Ten Bills Tuesday

June 10th, 2009 by Phil

This week’s newest release from TenBills is a little bit different from the direction they have been going in.  “Academy of Thieves” is an interesting design but I’m not completely sure what they were trying to do.  Obviously its a tribute to “higher thievery” but I’m not completely sure what that means.  With the inclusion of baseball bats, brass knuckles and a straight razor (not sure what that has to do with thieving) I feel like its more of a shirt for regular old street brawlers.  I kind of associate things like lockpics and daggers with thieves but I guess I’m not the one designing the shirts huh?  I was able to get a translation on the Italian (originally thought it was Latin): “No honor among thieves.” Other than not really completely getting it, I like the shirt and the fact that it comes in three brilliant color combinations (as we have come to expect from TenBills).  If you figure it out, let me know!

TenBills Tuesday

June 2nd, 2009 by Phil

TenBills Tuesday is back on track!!! Not that it was really off-track, but I like to start things off with something exciting.  Not that you really need something exciting after you’ve seen the new release this week from TenBills.  The feature this week is trippy, to say the least.  Artist Jared Stumpenhorst breaks down our dreams and how they happen in his newest work, “Little Guy Dreamworld.”  It is centered around the “little guys” who are the artists of dreams and are constantly creating, moving and shaking the everchanging dreamscape.  There’s ducks and pencils and mushroom-trees and all kinds of crazy stuff hidden all over the place.  Its a crazy design but I feel like it would fit in perfectly in any college crowd or under 26 social gathering.  Or if you were born in the late 40’s of course.  TenBills is releasing the shirt in three brilliant color combos: blue on black, yellow on gray and purple on silver.

Pac Man

May 30th, 2009 by Phil

Combining classics from American greater cinema and early entertainment technology BustedTees brings us “Ghost Catcher.”  The simplicity of Pac Man + Ghost Busters without the annoying actors? Sign me up.  I liked this shirt even before I noticed that Pac Man has a really crazed look on his face, what’s that all about?  Slate is an interesting choice of color, I personally might have gone with black for nostalgia sake, but I guess that would block out the shadows and the 3D-esque theme.

TenBills Tuesday

May 27th, 2009 by Phil

Yesterday was a travel day for me so TenBills Tuesday falls on a Wednesday this week.  This week’s newly released design is going to be an instant hit in my opinion.  From artist Budi Satria Kwan we get “Lunchtime.”  At first when I looked at it I got the general idea it was Mario based because I saw the mushrooms but then when I really got it, it was great.  Props to TenBills as this is one of the coolest shirts I’ve seen in a while.  Available in Brown & Charcol.

Better Than Pants

May 22nd, 2009 by Phil

Today’s feature shirt comes via “Better Than Pants.”  Although its pretty offensive (don’t plan to wear it to your cousin’s recital anytime soon [unless she's a stripper or something]) this shirt is definately an item to be worn for a good laugh.  “Chicken…Pussy” comes in white, but the color can be customized from a list of ten other colors for an extra $2.  Better Than Pants also has a cool feature where you can see what the design looks like on the color you choose before you buy, which is always nice.

TenBills Tuesday

May 19th, 2009 by Phil

Even though I wasn’t able to get my hands on a new release this week from TenBills the show must go on.  Here are a few other shirts that have been recently released from TenBills that have been deemed worthy.

“Block Party” was designed by TenBills‘ eldest artist Budi Satria Kwan (at the tender age of 99) but you wouldn’t know it if you looked at the design.  A very contemporary look at some of our very fondest moments, “Block Party” is a reminder of summers with BBQ and ice cream in the streets.  I get nostalgic just thinking about all those fun times where neighbors actually interacted instead of just scurrying into their garages to live their virtual lives. On a happier note here’s the shirt:

Price: $10.00

“Seize a Memory” is another one of Kwan’s amazing designs.  From a distance this shirt just looks like a bunch of neon squiggly lines but upon closer inspection the design is quite intense, I guess you could even call it trippy.  The overall message is how a good photographer can bring that moment in time to life through a simple picture.  I like the message, but what really attracts me to this shirt are the colors and the design itself.  The image looks stunning on the black tee and is also pretty powerful but in a more subdued manner on the silver tee.  Here’s a bit of a close-up so the design is a little bit more clear:

Brand of the Free

May 15th, 2009 by Phil

Want some America?  You’ll find it at Brand of the Free.  There’s no other way to describe this homegrown all-American company.  When visiting the site I feel like I’m at a 4th of July picnic watching one of those Brett Favre jeans commercials.  Yes, its that American.  Brand of the Free doesn’t sell gawdy shirts covered in the Red, White and Blue, instead they offer a full line of shirts that hope to “promote conversation about American pride and our environment.”  Common themes found in the shirts include liberty, recycling, and buying US.  Brand of the Free prides itself on providing tagless tees that are eco-friendly (low impact, water-based ink) and manufactured right here in the US of A.  Admirably, they also donate some of their profits to SERVE, a local food bank.  Prices are a little bit higher than run of the mill shirts online but the quality of the product combined with the donations could account for this.

“Misrepresentation” is a plea to the common man not to be misled.  Whether its government, the environment, or people in general be sure to fact check anything you’re told.  Its the American way to make sure you’ve got the right info to make the informed decision.  This women’s tee is made for the people, by the people.

Price: $32.00

“Model Nation” is from the men’s side of the site and is one of my favorites on the site.  It immediately took me back to my younger days of building model airplanes.  Are they trying to say that America is better off in separate pieces like they are on the shirt? Or are they trying to say that we need someone to put the pieces together?  Deep… and a cool orange color.

Ten Bills Tuesdays

May 12th, 2009 by Phil

Alright folks, we’re starting a new thing around here on Tuesdays: Ten Bills Tuesdays.  Since Ten Bills has a new artist designed shirt out every Monday we figured what better day than Tuesday to check it out hot off the press and bring it to you, for some final judgement.

This week’s new shirt at Ten Bills is a limited edition t-shirt that was created in conjunction with ShutterCal.com.  The two websites are pretty tight as their ideas run in the same genre and the two work together from time to time in an ongoing project where half the proceeds go to ShutterCal.com.  The shirt is designed in an attempt to show how ShutterCal works.  You take one picture each day, submit it to their website and eventually create a calendar of your pictures.  The shirt displays this in a pretty unique way with little calendar days popping out of the camera like frames and neatly falling into place on the calendar below.  The shirt is well designed and isn’t too busy, but it will probably be a head scratcher to most (lots of explaining to do, or make up a story).  I really like the old school Batman-esque “PUSH” and “CLICK” onomatopoeia action going on around the camera as it adds a little bold “Sin City” font accentuate the flashes.  Remember, this is a limited edition shirt so once it runs out at Ten Bills it won’t be re-printed!!

Off My Back

May 7th, 2009 by Phil

What better name for a t-shirt company than Off My Back?  Although this catchy name doesn’t really give away any hints on what products you’ll find inside but I’m pretty sure you’ll be satisfied with what you see.  Off My Back is a t-shirt company dedicated to making shirts to represent countries all over the world.  Since the company is young, right now they have four countries in stock: Germany, Spain, Brazil, and Italy.  The company is looking to expand quickly and already has plans to release Peru, Ecuador, New Zealand, Great Britain and a few others.  Its nice to see a company that makes shirts so people can rep the smaller non-mainstream countries such as New Zealand, Ecuador and Djibouti (I don’t even know what their flag looks like) instead of just the major players in the international community.  The shirts are also cool because they state the country name as it is known in the country it represents such as Espana and Deutschland.  The overall intention is to get a shirt design that would look like something you would buy in country and they’re pretty successful in that endeavor.  The designs are what you would expect from each country and include country outlines and signature national icons such as the bull on the Espana shirt.  All shirts are screen printed on form fitting Next Level Apparel shirts so keep that in mind when contemplating what size to get and how form fitting you really want it.

Deese Nuts

May 3rd, 2009 by Phil

Since we haven’t done any shirts that are too offensive in a while here’s a look at a site that will help bring that tastful element back into our reviews and hopfully back into your wardrobe.  Deese Nuts (yes, pronounced Deez Nuts) is a western themed site where everything revolves around Colonel Deese and his nuts.  By nuts of course they mean the Colonel’s nut plantations that supplied the ladies of the west nuts while their husbands were away at war.  Or as Deese Nuts puts it, “the Colonel managed to keep a nutsack in the hands of every waiting lady.”  As you can see no expense has been spared to create a kickass backstory for this site: they have a whole history of the Colonel, adventures of the Colonel (a blog about the creators), and the Colonel’s nuts can even be bought by the sackful.  Did I mention they have videos as well? The shirts are all themed around the nuts as well, here is the Savor shirt (also available in Red) in action:

Define Surf

April 29th, 2009 by Phil

Define Surf is a site that offers all kinds of surf t-shirts ranging from funny t-shirts to the more artistically designed landscape scene shirts.  The artistic shirts really catch the eye and are a cross between impressionism and cubism.  The art shirts are desinged by Surf artist Nathan Paul Gibbs are are what really attracts me to this site.  Here is “Harbor Rights”, a Gibbs design, that shows a beach landscape bordering some kind of vegetation or forest with mountains (?) in the background and sunset to set the move.  This is a really cool shirt and is extremely versatile and can be worn just as something to throw on or at any informal event.  Available in white or Lt.Blue.

Cameesa Sale

April 21st, 2009 by Phil

Right now Cameesa.com is holding their April sale: 15% off t-shirts and FREE shipping if you purchase two or more t-shirts.  The sale ends April 24 so there’s not a whole bunch of time to wait.  We haven’t featured Cameesa in a while so here is a look at their newest shirt.  “Birth of an Icon” is a tribute to Walt Disney and the mouse which he has made so popular.  According to the story, Disney was inspired to create his Mickey Mouse by a few coins sitting next to each other and his own pet mouse.  Cameesa makes the point that this shirt is also a tribute and inspiration to all artists and visionaries who can make magic out of a few simple ideas.  The shirt has a sepia feel and the blank pad surrounded by so few props really hits home the idea that massive ideas can come from such little inspiration in the form of tangible things.

Zero Boutique

April 17th, 2009 by Phil

Today we bring you Zero BoutiqueZero Boutique has been around since 1993 and has been selling online since 1998 so this is a company that has been around for a while and knows their craft.  ZBQ has been known to be very artist oriented and is constantly seeking new submissions.  ZBQ is just starting a new special where they release a new shirtdesign each week and for a limited time you can pre-order the shirt not only in any size, style, or color you want, but at a $3 discount from the normal price.  Sounds like a deal to me.

ZBQ’s shirt of the week this week is “speaking of” by artist Todd Marrone.  Its a very loud, colorful shirt that kind of reminds me of a mix between African tribal masks and some crazy abstract art.  This is the kind of art you will find at the ZBQ website.  Not this exact style of course, but a wide array of actual art instead of the typical art-for-shirt designs that we have become accostomed to.  The one I selected here I put on a black background of the default tee.  Most men’s shirts and all ladies shirts are American Apparel.

Price: $20.80 ($3 off the regular price using to pre-order)

I’d also like to mention that all shipping from ZBQ is free, yes FREE, even if you live overseas.  Also if you’re going to purchase items from ZBQ mention code “speech” in the “comments to seller” section of the shopping cart before selection and ZBQ will refund an additional 10% off of the order!

BuffTees

April 14th, 2009 by Phil

Today we’re going to feature a company that has not graced our site before: BuffTees.  As the name implies, BuffTees encourages you to party in the buff.  The t-shirts featured on BuffTees goes along with this ideology and might not be for kids under the age 10, but for the rest of us they’re sure to provide a good laugh.  They also have a section of their site where customers can send in pictures wearing BuffTee apparel and are featured on the site, pretty cool.  Party on BuffTees.

Sick and tired of all those “vote for change” bumperstickers, shirts, posters etc.?  Did you want change but not the kind President Obama had in mind?  If you answered yes to any of the previous questions BuffTees has a shirt for you.  “Change it Back” is a very nicely done parody of the Obama theme with a rewind button right in the middle.  Freedom of speech: if you didn’t want it, make sure people know.

Price: $19.99

Another shirt that I just had to include on here is BuffTees‘ “Player Hater Ball.” I’m a huge Chapelle fan (Dave Chapelle, not the Aussie chick that got busted for posession in Bali) and the moment I saw this shirt I had to run to my DVD collection and watch the Ball itself.  I wouldn’t say this is an everyday everywhere shirt because I’m not to sure how many people will get it, but you’ll definately run into some people with common interests.

392designs

April 6th, 2009 by Phil

Here’s a site we haven’t visited in a while, its been too long!  For those of you that enjoy the organic style or artistic side of clothing design here’s a pretty sweet selection from 302designs.  “Prosperity” is all about establishing a stable base early so you won’t have to worry later.  I think its the color scheme that really drew me to this shirt.  While I usually am not a fan of yellow due to its very loud effect, the “Dijon” yellow is softer and more subdued.

Triple Sale!!!

April 1st, 2009 by Phil

Ladies and gentlemen listen up, this one is too good to miss: BustedTees‘ Triple Sale.  Right now BustedTees is running three sales at one time.  First off, BustedTees is running their usual weekly sale page where they are offering 12 new shirts for $12 each.  “Enough LaBeouf” is one of this week’s gems that I had to feature because its definitely something I would wear due to the fact that the kid plays the same part over and over again.

Price: $12.00

BustedTees is also having their Defunker Sale where they have 20 shirts for $9.99 each.  My pick of this litter has to be “Above” which could be a depiction of what a weird dream might look like if it was all bunched together.  There’s some weird stuff in this one that really catches the eye.

I saved this one for the end for a reason.  The third leg of this tripod of sales is BustedTees $8.00 Mega-Sale.  With over 48 shirts at $8.00 a piece there is surely a shirt in here for everyone.  Here’s one for my fellow bretheren and all you past greeks and future frat-stars!  Not only does this shirt mix greek letters into words, it results in a pun!! You can’t get better than that.

Annual Apparel

March 27th, 2009 by Phil

Annual Apparel is a shirt site that bases their shirt designs around years.  While this may sound a little strange at first its actually a pretty cool idea.  Annual Apparel attempts to capture the most memorable people and events of the year they are focusing on so that your shirt can help you remember things your mind cannot.  The first shirt they have released is 2008 and just to give an idea of what kind of stuff can be found on the shirt: USA Olympic Basketball, Obama, foreclosure, David Tyree’s BS catch that set up 18-1, and creepy Heath Ledger as the joker in the top right corner.  I’d say that’s  a pretty wide array of items.  Next up are 1984 as voted on by the fans, and a suprise year which should be released sometime in the next two months.  We’ll keep you updated!
